Hello! At Cooper Magnet Elementary School for Technology, we believe in using technology in innovative ways to help our children make connections to their academic material. We are committed to giving children instructional input and opportunities to develop skills for lifelong learning and we know that, given the right instruction, all children can learn. Our students have made great strides over the past several years and we are working hard to ensure their continued success. We are using hands-on projects in Children’s Engineering and Design Technology in our Technology Lab to help increase scores in social studies, science and math. Our strategies are working. We are very proud to be fully accredited again this year. Cooper has been recognized throughout the state and the nation for innovations in technology education. We won the 2006 WHRO Geddy Award for Excellence in Technology Education and were semifinalists for the Schools of Distinction National Award. Our teachers have received national recognition in the areas of science, environmental education and technology. Each day students have the opportunity to use exciting new technology such as the Promethean Board and Video Microscopes as well as having access to dozens of laptop computers and iPads. Our students are also motivated readers. Cooper is actively involved in the Accelerated Reader and RIF programs, and our students read an average of 65 books per student last year! The staff and faculty of Cooper is dedicated to helping each and every child in the school succeed and progress. Our caring, committed faculty helps to make Cooper a place where students want to be; our students attendance rate is one of the highest in the city. We look forward to continuing school improvement as we nurture and encourage our students towards new heights in academic growth and achievement. Please stop by and visit us any time! |
